Hi GeertM,

RunScanner is displaying a "File not found" warning for a valid file.
Maybe you are using the whole path string to determine if the file exists or not.
In this case the path contains also service parameters. You should ignore the parameters.

The file c:\wamp5\mysql\bin\mysqld-nt.exe exists.

This is indeed a bug, I already check for the parameters, so it must be some bug in the routine.
Thanks

This still happens with version 1.5.0.39

This is a MySQL configuration startup file that is quite similar to a .PIF or .LNK file. Even Windows explorer treats it as a shortcut and removes the .CNF extension from view.

It does not have a registry key. It resides in the root of the drive. In most cases C:\some name.cnf

It is possible to store it in another location as well, but most people place it in the root of the C: volume.

An example of the entry might be something like this:

Quote:
C:\>type my.cnf
[mysql]
# Displaying the version number in the prompt
# helps when running multiple instances.
# prompt = mysql\\_\v>\\_
prompt = mysql>

[mysqld-5.0]
port = 3306
basedir = C:/mysql5/
datadir = C:/mysql5/data/
innodb_data_home_dir = C:/mysql5/ibdata/
innodb_log_group_home_dir = C:/mysql5/iblogs/
innodb_data_file_path = ibdata1:10M:autoextend
# Make table names case sensitive.
# Ensures portability when moving applications to other os's.
set-variable = lower_case_table_names=1

Here is the screen shot as requested.
The NBService file not found is correct. It does not exist. However the my.cnf does exist

Section scanned and listed is this one
Item: 010 HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services (Services)

The key location is here:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MySQL5
ImagePath (C:\MySQL5\bin\mysqld-max-nt --defaults-file=C:\my.cnf MySQL5)
ObjectName (.\mysql)

Does the file "C:\MySQL5\bin\mysqld-max-nt" exists?
This is the file that's started, the remaining part are parameters.
