I just installed RunScanner a little while ago. It is very nice! I have a problem though. I have XP Pro SP2 and RunScanner, after doing a full scan when I highlight an entry, freezes and uses about 60% CPU. I have to resort to Task Manager to kill the process. This happens repeatedly.

Have you tried using RunScanner in Safe Mode?

No, it never occured to me to use it in Safe Mode. I avoid Safe Mode like the plague. ;) It is too hard to read anything without my proper nVidia drivers (plus the colors are horrible). I use Safe Mode only as a last resort for something a lot more serious than a program freezing on me. I can try it in VMWare though and see if it works better there.

I have tried RunScanner any many different systems with different configurations but apparently there is something different with yours. What did you try to remove? What kind of protective software do you have that may hinder RunScanner's ability to remove items?

I have never heard of this behaviour before, so it might be difficult to debug.
In the next version, I'll use an upgraded version of the third party grid used in the program, let's see if this fixes your program.

I wasn't trying to remove anything at that point...I just got the application. I am cautious when I have something new to play with :D...since I installed it on the host computer rather than a VMWare computer. I highlighted an item to see what I could see on right click, etc. and suddenly RunScanner froze. This happened repeatedly.

I decided before replying to again try RunScanner. Gee, I was able to highlight and right click and do various stuff...it didn't freeze. Good, I think...until I was simply using the mouse to scroll downward and wham! RunScanner was frozen and using about 60% of the CPU. Thank goodness, I had Task Manager in the systray, so I was able to act fast to kill it. From the other instances of this happening, Event Viewer showed a series of actions by my Desktop manager, nView, which was on the verge of shutting down Explorer which would have frozen the computer had I not been able to kill RunScanner fast enough to avoid that happening.

Would further information about my computer be helpful? Anything I can do to help figure this out?

Hmmm....hope I can post this. I just scrolled down and I see this message at the bottom of this page:

"There has been a serious error loading the forum. No futher information is available.

I just installed the latest version and it works great! No freezing when I right click and delete something or just look around. :)
